My fragile, wounded self

Not the everyday me

Yet the one I wanted you to see

Filled with your love

Whole again

Willing and true

Your whispered promises

This thirsty heart

Resting in your hands

My tired soul

Sinking into yours

It’s tears and tatters

Stitched whole

With the feel of your body

The warmth of your arms

A love like no other

Or so I believed

Now you’re gone

Like a ghost

As dark as the new moon

You’ve left me shattered

Bruised in my mind

Broken in my soul

Bleeding from my heart

You’ve left me here

A Queen without a King

Wondering if you even

Wanted that role

My beloved painting by artist Margaret Garland
